Ecosystems
MR. PRESIDENT, WILL YOU SAVE MY ECOSYSTEM?
We completed a science unit on ecosystems. We studied how energy flows in an ecosystem, producers, consumers, food chains & webs, animal adaptations, and how humans disturb ecosystems.
Our culminating project was to break out into groups and study the different types of ecosystems. We imagined that the President had federal money to use to preserve one particular ecosystem. The students each had a research role and had to report to their group with the information they found. The Missouri Botanical Gardens website was used to gather information. The students created a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation of their research that could be shown to the president.
The presentations were uploaded to Slideshare and can be viewed using the above tabs: Desert, Tundra, Grasslands, Temperate Forest, & Rainforest.
